Meet Lucia

Lucia is five years old, full of light, curiosity, and determination. She loves watching Miss Rachel, listening to songs, and enjoying the simple moments that make her smile. To us, she is not defined by a diagnosis—she is our daughter, our joy, and our reason to keep pushing forward every single day.

When Everything Changed

In 2023, Lucia was diagnosed with Rett syndrome, a rare neurological condition that causes children to lose skills such as speech, movement, and communication. That moment brought shock, fear, and uncertainty. Overnight, our future looked very different from what we had imagined. But as we learned more about Rett syndrome, we also discovered something important—there is hope.

Why We Are Fundraising

Promising gene therapy treatments are being developed that have the potential to change the course of Rett syndrome by addressing its root cause. However, accessing these treatments is complex and costly, and time is critical. We are fundraising to give Lucia a chance—a chance at better mobility, better communication, and a better quality of life. Every effort brings us closer to giving her the opportunity she deserves.

What We Are Doing Now

We are working within our community to raise funds and awareness for Lucia’s treatment. This includes organizing fundraising events, reaching out to supporters, and sharing her story to build hope and support. This journey has not been easy, but we have been deeply inspired by the kindness of those who believe in Lucia and her future.

Our greatest hope is to give Lucia the chance to live a fuller, more independent life. We dream of a future where she can communicate more clearly, move more freely, and experience the world with fewer limitations. Lucia is strong. She is loved. And she is worth every effort.
